The British journalists Joe Clifford and Andrew Biddle decided to travel across Britain behind the wheel of a fuel-efficient Toyota Avensis Tourer and see how many miles are able to drive on a single fuel tank.

The result was quite impressive as the Japanese model fitted with a 2.0-liter D4-D engine and a six-speed manual transmission obtained a total range of 904,9 miles (1,456 kilometers).

The journalists from Banzai Magazine managed to obtain a fuel economy of just 3,95 liters/100km (59,5mpg US), therefore, driving more than 900 miles with a single 60-liter fuel tank.

“The Toyota shrugged off the mileage with ease and showed such frugality for fuel that we wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it highly,” said Joe Clifford, editor at the Banzai Magazine.

In their way, they also stopped at Toyota’s Burnaston plant but they said that there was no stop at a gas station, the entire trip being completed on a single fuel tank.
