Audi A4 TDi gets to USA in 2014

Category: Audi | Author: | Date: March 14th, 2013

Audi plans to make good on an earlier promise, and that’s to bring more diesel cars for the US market. They will do so in the form of the Audi A4 TDi.

The problem is that Audi thinks it makes no sense (and is probably right) to redesign the old A4 platform for the TDi engine. Instead they are going to wait for 2014, when they plan to use a different platform for the A4 series, making it easier and more cost effective.

Audi A4

The A4 is already a big hit with the americans, selling around 35.000 units in 2012. So making the model available with a diesel engine can only be good. Especially in today’s market, where diesel car demand is on the rise. Although more expensive than gasoline, diesel still makes sense since the engines get better and better at burning less of it.

German car maker Volkswagen announced its first fully electric car, the E-Up!. Based on their town car, the Up!, this little electric version will provide the competition ample reason for concern.

The general styling changed only slightly, making it a bit more aerodynamic and easier on the eyes.

Volkswagen E-Up!

But what really matters it’s what’s beneath the exterior. And that is an 81 horsepower electric engine, capable of reaching 100km/h in 13 seconds. It might not be much, but it’s very close to the performance of the 1.0 liter gasoline engine on the VW Up!.
